Amla can be used differently for different skin types. Here are some different remedies that you can use:
a) Oily skin: take half a teaspoon of honey and add 1 teaspoon lemon juice to it. Mix well. Now take a tablespoon of amla pulp and mix all three together. Blend well. Apply this pack on cleansed, toned skin. Keep for 20 mins and wash using cold water. This pack can cause mild tingling as it goes to work. However, if it gets unbearable use cold water to wash off and dab ice covered in a tissue. It’s a more soothing experience to use skin wrapped as oppose to direct as that can further exacerbate the burning. As with all skin care that has a peeling effect, it’s a good idea to help the skin with a protective barrier of sunscreen. The skin needs protection after any mask or face pack is used.
b) IF you have acne or your skin is prone to breakouts, adding a small sprig of mint leaves and parsley crushed helps provide the anti-bacterial effect. This helps minimise the acne as well as helps heal the current breakout.
c) Amla also is an excellent choice of natural treatments to help in tightening the pores and rejuvenating the skin. Use crushed amla with rice powder to make a paste and apply all over face paying special attention to the pores.
d) IF you have dry skin and suffer from acne or blemishes, a good recipe to use is to pulp amla finely and add ½ teaspoon of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of rice powder. Make a wet sand consistency paste adding more oil if you need. Apply this pack to cleansed, toned and dry skin. Keep it on for 20 mins and wash off with warm water.
e) If you have sensitive skin, it’s strongly recommended that you do a patch test first. If you don’t react unfavourably to amla patch test then go ahead and use this pack. Add a crushed tablespoon of amla seeds to an equal amount of curd and honey mix to make a paste. Alternatively, pure aloe vera gel is a good substitute for yoghurt.
Best beauty treatments fail if we don’t pay attention to what we are eating. For best results, adding at least two fruits of amla to your diet as either powder or juice or morabba (preserve) works wonders in accelerating your skin’s recovery.
